Wallguard
3000
Datasheet
Elastomeric Wall Coating
Composition:
Wallguard is an acrylic polymer, single component, durable, flexible
membrane. The coating is installed in two coats to create a uniform
waterproof membrane that becomes part of the wall system.
Basic Use:
Wallguard 3000 is designed to be installed over stucco, wood or concrete
surfaces. Wallguard is elastomeric and provides durable protection
from ultraviolet light exposure and allows for easy maintenance of
the membrane.
Limitations:
Do not apply over non-structural substrates. Do not apply below-grade
or in areas that are constantly submerged.
Grade:
Wallguard 3000 is a single component acrylic wall coating. When desired,
a coat of Wallguard 3100 TX can be applied to add a texture coat.
Excel-Coat Patching Compound is used to assist in wall preparation
prior to application of Wallguard 3000.
Packaging:
Wallguard 3000 and Wallguard 3100 TX are available in 1 and 5 gallon
containers (U.S. gallon measures). Primer and patching compound are
sold in various sizes and quantities.
Shelf-life:
12 months from shipping date, stored below 80F. Do not allow product
to freeze.
Colors:
White, beige and gray. Color matching is available upon request at
an additional charge. Minimum quantities may apply; overages will
apply.
Job Conditions:
Before any installation is started, the contractor shall thoroughly
examine all surfaces for any deficiencies. If any deficiencies exist,
the architect, owner and general contractor shall be notified in writing
and corrections necessary shall be made prior to application.
Cold or inclement weather will effect the cure time of all Excel-Coat
products. Do not install over wet substrate, in the rain or if the
threat of rain exists within 24 hours.
Installation:
Preparation:
- Pressure clean all areas to be coated, to remove any debris, dust,
stain, loose areas, and any peeling of existing coating. Mildew and fungus should be removed with detergent soap or bleach
and rinsed off thoroughly with clean water. Patch and repair all voids and delaminated or damaged areas in the
wall with Excel-Crete. Cracks of less than 1/16" should be treated with Excel Coat Patching
Compound and spread tightly into the cracks using a patching (bondo)
spreader. Cracks that are 1/16" or wider should be tooled and routed to
a minimum 1/4" by 1/4" joint and filled with an elastomeric sealant.
Where movement is expected, it is recommended to embed tape with the
sealant. Wood windows, doors, sills, columns and protrusions in the plane of
the wall should be sanded. Using the Excel-Coat Patching Compound fill
all holes, cracks and voids and apply Excel-Coat Primer 120 or PC-155 to
the surface. Apply a coat of Wallguard 3000 as a detail coat over all
horizontal surfaces, and wall intersections. Mask and protect all adjacent areas from spills and overspray during
application. Any rough surface should be smoothed by grinding or filled with an
appropriate cementitious material such as Excel-Crete.
- Rust should be removed, the area repaired and primed with Excel-Coat
Primer 120 or PC-155.
Application:
- Using a roller or spray equipment apply Excel-Coat Primer 120 or
PC-155 to all areas to be coated.
- Apply two uniform coats using a minimum of 1 gallon of Wallguard
3000 per 100 square feet per coat. Coverage may vary depending on the
porosity of the substrate and the application method. Wallguard 3000 and
Wallguard 3100 TX can be applied by roller or spray equipment. Minimum
dry mils. of both coats should be 15 mils. The second coat can be
applied only after the first coat is thoroughly dried.
Caution: Do not start application where adverse weather
conditions are forecast; specifically rain or temperatures below 55°F or
above 90°F. Areas to be coated should be moisture free and dry.
Storage and Handling:
Store Wallguard in a cool, dry area and protect it from freezing. It
may be necessary to stir Wallguard prior to use. Containers should be
separated according to batch numbers. When using more then one batch for
the same project, all material should be blended to ensure color
uniformity. Partial containers of Wallguard can be resealed. Clean mixing
and application tools with water. Dispose of empty containers according to
current Local, State, and Federal regulations.
