Retarder Additive For Excel-Crete
COMPOSITION:
The Excel-Crete Retarder is a citric acid set control retarder for both the gray and white Excel-Crete products. Addition of Excel-Crete Retarder slows down the setting time of the Excel-Crete giving more time to place and finish your mixture. The Excel-Crete Retarder counteracts the accelerating effects of warm weather and extends the work time of the material.
BASIC USE:
Excel-Crete Retarder is specifically designed as a set control admixture for Excel-Crete (gray) and Excel-Crete K/D (white) when mixing temperatures rise above 75° F. This increases the time for workability of the Excel-Crete products.
LIMITATIONS:
Do not exceed one 25-gram packet per 50-pound bag of Excel-Crete.

The Excel-Crete Retarder is a food-grade citric acid powder.
PACKAGING:
Excel-Crete Retarder is available in 25-gram packets.
SHELF LIFE:
Twelve months from shipping date, stored below 80°F.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Before any waterproofing work is started, the waterproofing applicator shall thoroughly examine all surfaces for any deficiencies. Should any deficiencies exist, the Architect, Owner or General Contractor shall be notified in writing and any corrections necessary shall be made.
Cold or inclement weather will effect the cure time of all Excel-Coat products. Do not install over wet substrate, in the rain or if the threat of rain exists within 24 hours.
INSTALLATION:
The Excel-Crete Retarder should be mixed in 4 ounces of water to dissolve the powder and then added to the Excel-Crete Additive and Excel-Crete powder. Mix material slowly and thoroughly. Trowel as usual.
The Excel-Crete Retarder will add 30 minutes to one hour of workable time to the Excel-Crete mix. Depending on the weather and temperature, 1/4 to 1 full bag of Excel-Crete Retarder can be used with a 50-pound bag of Excel-Crete (gray) or Excel-Crete K/D (white).
Note: Do not add more than one pre-measured packet of Excel-Crete Retarder per one 50 lb. bag of Excel-Crete powder
Note: Adding this extender may increase the time necessary to cure the Excel-Crete for the next step. It may be necessary to wait until the next day to start the next step of the system that is being installed.
STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Store Excel-Crete Retarder in a cool dry area. Clean mixing and application tools with water. Dispose of empty containers properly according to current Local, State and Federal regulations.
Health and Hazard Information:
Use the product with adequate ventilation and personal protection. Users must read container label and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for specific health and safety precautions prior to use.

GUARANTEE / WARRANTY:
Excellent Coatings, Inc. warrants Excel-Crete Retarder to be free of defects and manufactured to meet published physical properties for a period of one year following the date of shipment, provided that the product has been applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. Under this warranty, Excellent Coatings, Inc. will provide, at no charge, product in containers to replace any product proved to be defective in applications recommended by us as suitable for this product. All claims concerning the product's defects must be made within twelve months of shipment and within thirty days of discovery. Absence of such claims in writing during this period will constitute a waiver of all claims with respect to such product. This warranty is IN LIEU OF any and all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, any implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY of fitness for a specific purpose.
TECHNICAL SERVICE:
Authorized local representatives are available to provide design assistance and on-site instruction for our products. Excellent Coatings, Inc. provides assistance in design and development of special applications and partial inspection. Part-time and full-time inspection and instruction are available on a fee basis upon arrangement. Technical data is available upon request.
