COMPOSITION:

EXCEL-COAT Release Agent is a liquid used to spray over the 1/4 inch Excel Crete Polymer Cement stamped systems and on the stamps themselves to prevent sticking of the Excel Crete to the stamps.

BASIC USE:

EXCEL-COAT liquid Release Agent is used to prevent sticking of the Excel Crete to the patterned stamp pads.  An antiquing  powder in different colors can also be added to the clear release agent to create an antiqued finish to the stamped overlay during the stamping process.

 

LIMITATIONS:

• Do not allow material to freeze.

• Do not apply near an open flame, turn off pilot light when used in enclosed areas.

 

GRADE:

The EXCEL-COAT Release Agent is a combustible clear liquid material with a slight fragrance added.  Use with adequate ventilation and proper breathing masks.

 

PACKAGING:

The EXCEL-COAT Release Agent is available in 1 and 5 gallon containers. (US gallon measures).

 

SHELF LIFE:

Twelve months from shipping date stored below 80°.  Do not allow material to freeze.

 

COLORS:

EXCEL-COAT Release Agent is available in clear.  Release  powder can be added to the liquid release to  add a colored antique finish.

 

JOB CONDITIONS:

Before any work is started, the applicator shall thoroughly examine all surfaces for any deficiencies. Should any deficiencies exist, the architect, owner or general contractor shall be notified in writing and any corrections necessary shall be made.

 

Cold or inclement weather will affect the cure time of all Excel-Coat products.  Do not install Excel Crete over wet substrate, in the rain, or if the threat of rain exists within 24 hours.

 

Application:

A.       Trowel the Excel Crete Polymer Cement to approximately 3/16 to 1/4 inch in thickness over the  working area. Trowel only as much as you can stamp at one time.

B.       Spray the Excel-Coat Release Agent on to the Excel Crete at the rate of approximately 200-250 square feet per gallon in a thin, even coat.  Use a Hudson sprayer or spray bottle.

C.       Spray the texture side of the stamps with the Excel Coat Release Agent before laying them on the Excel Crete surface.

D.       Lift each stamp off the surface and move to the next area.  Repeat the trowel-and-spray process as stated above.

E.        To add an antiqued look to the stamped system add 2 to 4 ounces of colored antiquing powder to one gallon of the Excel Coat Release Agent, follow application process above.

 

STORAGE AND HANDLING:

Store EXCEL-COAT Release Agent in a cool, dry area and protect from freezing. It will be necessary to stir EXCEL-COAT Release Agent before using.  Partial containers can be resealed. Should a top skin develop on the remaining contents of a container, the physical properties and effectiveness of the contents will not be impaired. Clean mixing and application tools with a solvent cleaner like MEK. Dispose of empty containers properly according to current Local, State and Federal regulations.

 

Health and Hazard Information:

Use the product with adequate ventilation and personal protection. Users must read container label and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for specific health and safety precautions prior to use.

MAINTENANCE:

Cleaning can be accomplished by scrubbing with normal detergent soap and water. Heavy stains may require TSP solution and brushing with a stiff broom. Organic Citrus cleaners may be used on the Excel Coat systems.  Follow product directions. 

 

GUARANTEE / WARRANTY:

Excellent Coatings, Inc. warrants EXCEL-COAT Release Agent to be free of defects and manufactured to meet published physical properties for a period of one year following the date of shipment, provided that the product has been applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. Under this warranty, Excellent Coatings, Inc. will provide, at no charge, product in containers to replace any product proved to be defective in applications recommended by us as suitable for this product. All claims concerning the products' defects must be made within twelve months of shipment and within thirty days of discovery. Absence of such claims in writing during this period will constitute a waiver of all claims with respect to such product. This warranty, IN LIEU OF any and all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, any implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY of fitness for a specific purpose.

Authorized local representatives are available to provide design assistance and on-site instruction for our products. Excellent Coatings, Inc. provides assistance in design and development of special applications and partial inspection.
