Elastomeric Wall Coating
Composition:
Wallguard is an
acrylic polymer, single component, durable, flexible membrane. The coating is
installed in two coats to create a uniform waterproof membrane that becomes
part of the wall system.
Basic Use:
Wallguard 3000 is designed to be installed over stucco, wood
or concrete surfaces. Wallguard is elastomeric and provides durable protection
from ultraviolet light exposure and allows for easy maintenance of the
membrane.
Limitations:
Do not apply over non-structural substrates. Do not apply
below-grade or in areas that are constantly submerged.
Grade:
Wallguard 3000 is a single component acrylic wall coating.
When desired, a coat of Wallguard 3100 TX can be applied to add a texture coat.
Excel-Coat Patching Compound is used to assist in wall preparation prior to
application of Wallguard 3000.
Packaging:
Wallguard 3000 and
Wallguard 3100 TX are available in 1 and 5 gallon containers (
Shelf-life:
12 months from
shipping date, stored below 80F. Do not allow product to freeze.
Colors:
White, beige and
gray. Color matching is available upon request at an additional charge. Minimum
quantities may apply; overages will apply.
Job Conditions:
Before any
installation is started, the contractor shall thoroughly examine all surfaces
for any deficiencies. If any deficiencies exist, the architect, owner and general
contractor shall be notified in writing and corrections necessary shall be made
prior to application.
Cold or inclement
weather will effect the cure time of all Excel-Coat products. Do not install over wet substrate, in the
rain or if the threat of rain exists within 24 hours.
Installation:
Preparation:
A.
Pressure clean
all areas to be coated, to remove any debris, dust, stain, loose areas, and any
peeling of existing coating.
B.
Mildew and
fungus should be removed with detergent soap or bleach and rinsed off
thoroughly with clean water.
C.
Patch and
repair all voids and delaminated or damaged areas in the wall with Excel-Crete.
D.
Cracks of less
than 1/16" should be treated with Excel Coat Patching Compound and spread
tightly into the cracks using a patching (bondo) spreader. Cracks that are
1/16" or wider should be tooled and routed to a minimum 1/4" by
1/4" joint and filled with an elastomeric sealant. Where movement is
expected, it is recommended to embed tape with the sealant.
E.
Wood windows,
doors, sills, columns and protrusions in the plane of the wall should be
sanded. Using the Excel-Coat Patching Compound fill all holes, cracks and voids
and apply Excel-Coat Primer 120 or PC-155 to the surface. Apply a coat of
Wallguard 3000 as a detail coat over all horizontal surfaces, and wall
intersections.
F.
Mask and
protect all adjacent areas from spills and overspray during application.
G.
Any rough
surface should be smoothed by grinding or filled with an appropriate
cementitious material such as Excel-Crete.
H.
Rust should be
removed, the area repaired and primed with Excel-Coat Primer 120 or PC-155.
Application:
A.
Using a roller
or spray equipment apply Excel-Coat Primer 120 or PC-155 to all areas to be
coated.
B.
Apply two
uniform coats using a minimum of 1 gallon of Wallguard 3000 per 100 square feet
per coat. Coverage may vary depending on the porosity of the substrate and the
application method. Wallguard 3000 and Wallguard 3100 TX can be applied by
roller or spray equipment. Minimum dry mils. of both coats should be 15 mils.
The second coat can be applied only after the first coat is thoroughly dried.
Caution: Do not
start application where adverse weather conditions are forecast;
specifically rain or temperatures below 55°F or above 90°F. Areas to be coated
should be moisture free and dry.
Storage and Handling:
Store Wallguard in a
cool, dry area and protect it from freezing. It may be necessary to stir
Wallguard prior to use. Containers
should be separated according to batch numbers. When using more then one batch
for the same project, all material should be blended to ensure color
uniformity. Partial containers of Wallguard can be resealed. Clean mixing and
application tools with water. Dispose of
empty containers according to current Local, State, and Federal regulations.
Repairs and Maintenance:
If damage or wear
occur, simple repairs using the same product can be accomplished. Contact
Excellent Coatings, Inc. for specific information regarding long term
maintenance. Cleaning can be accomplished by scrubbing with detergent soap and
water. Power washing and brushing may be required to remove heavy stains.

Warranty:
Excellent Coatings,
Inc. warrants Wallguard to be free of defects and manufactured to meet
published physical properties for a period of one year following the date of
shipment, provided that the product has been applied according to the
manufacturer's instructions. Under the warranty, Excellent Coatings, Inc. will
provide, at no charge, product in containers to replace any product proven to
be defective in applications recommended by us as suitable for this product.
All claims concerning the products' defects must be made within 12 months of
shipment and within 30 days of discovery. Absence of such claims in writing
during this period will constitute a waiver of all claims with respect to such
product. This warranty is IN LIEU of any
and all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to,
any implied warranty of MERCHANTABLITY of fitness for a specific purpose.
