Special Firefighting
Procedures: Wear
a NIOSH/MSHA approved self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective
clothing. Use water to keep fire-exposed
containers cool. Water may be
ineffective as an extinguishing agent.
Unusual Fire &
Explosion Hazards: When burned without
sufficient oxygen, the material emits dense smoke. Do not store near open flame.
SECTION 5 - HAZARD
DATA
Effects Of Overexposure:
Eyes: Fumes at high
temperatures may irritate eyes. Contact with fibers or dust may irritate or
scratch surface of eyes.
Skin: Moderately
irritating. Contact with molten fibers
will cause thermal burns,
Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. If large amount ingested, seek medical
attention.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air if effects occur. May cause pulmonary
function disability.
Emergency & First Aid Procedures:
Eyes: Flush with water for
15 minutes.
Skin: Remove contaminated
clothing, wash skin off with flowing water.

present.
Other Protective
Equipment: Not
needed.
SECTION 9 - SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Precautions To Be
Taken In Handling & Storing: Keep away from open flames and high temperatures.
Other
Precautions: It is reported that there
is a possibility of causing cancer when ultra-fine fibers below 0.25 um in
diameter and above 8 um in length are absorbed into the lung.
Practice
good industrial hygiene and safe working practices.
