COMPOSITION:

Excel-Coat #300 is an acrylic polymer, single-component, color seal coat.

BASIC USE:

Excel-Coat #300 is specifically designed to provide a color top coat for interior or exterior pedestrian traffic areas such as walking decks, balconies, patios, stairways and pool areas. Suitable substrates for the Excel-Coat #300 are existing Excel-Coat waterproofing systems, as well as other waterproofing membranes and concrete walking surfaces. Excel-Coat #300 provides durable protection, is UV stable and allows easy maintenance of the surface.

LIMITATIONS:

• Not for areas intended for vehicular traffic.
• Do not apply in constantly submerged conditions such as reflecting ponds or tank linings.
• Do not apply over non-­structural lightweight concrete without prior written approval.

GRADE:

The Excel-Coat #300 seal coat is an acrylic resin to be used as a topcoat.

PACKAGING:

The Excel-Coat #300 is available in 1 and 5 gallon containers (U.S. gallon measures).

SHELF LIFE:

Twelve months from shipping date; stored below 80°F.  Do not allow product to freeze.

COLORS:

Excel-Coat #300 seal coat is available in 16 standard colors. Custom color matching is available upon request at an additional charge. Minimum quantities and guaranteed overages may apply.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Before any work is started, the applicator shall thoroughly examine all surfaces for any deficiencies. Should any deficiencies exist, the Architect, Owner or General Contractor shall be notified in writing and any corrections necessary shall be made.

Cold or inclement weather will effect the cure time of all Excel-Coat products.  Do not install over wet substrate, in the rain or if the threat of rain exists within 24 hours.

INSTALLATION:

Preparation:

1. To top coat existing systems, the system must be thoroughly cleaned (power washing with a detergent like Prosoco 2010 All-Purpose Cleaner is acceptable) and primed.
2. All decks shall be properly sloped to freely drain and eliminate the ponding of water.  All expansion joints shall be treated as specified in the drawings, and in strict accordance with Excellent Coatings International's written instructions.  Excellent Coatings International shall be consulted for specific design requirements.

 Application:

1. Thoroughly clean surface by means of power washing prior to application of the top coat.  Allow surface to dry completely.
2. Prime surface with Primer 120 at the rate of approximately 250 square feet per gallon.  Allow primer dry with ONLY a slight tack.   Apply two thin coats of Excel-Coat #300 by roller or airless sprayer at the rate of 250 square ft. per gallon per coat, for a net yield of 125 square ft. per gallon total coverage.  Allow to dry approximately 8 hours.  Allow to cure 24 hours before heavy foot traffic is permitted and an additional 72 hours before heavy objects are placed on the surface.

Note:       Avoid application of Excel-Coat #300 when deck surface is hot and/or under direct intense sunlight.

STORAGE AND HANDLING:

Store Excel-Coat #300 in a cool, dry area and protect from freezing. It will be necessary to stir Excel-Coat #300 before using. Containers should be separated according to batch numbers to ensure color uniformity. When changing from one batch to another, blend one container from each batch together to ensure a smooth transition.  Partial containers can be resealed. Should a top skin develop on the remaining contents of a container, the physical properties and effectiveness of the contents will not be impaired. Clean mixing and application tools with water. Dispose of empty containers properly according to current Local, State and Federal regulations.

HEALTH AND HAZARD INFORMATION:

Use the product with adequate ventilation and personal protection. Users must read container label and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for specific health and safety precautions prior to use.

MAINTENANCE:

Cleaning can be accomplished by scrubbing with normal detergent soap and water. Heavy stains may require TSP solution and brushing with a stiff broom.

GUARANTEE / WARRANTY:

Excellent Coatings International warrants Excel-Coat #300 to be free of defects and manufactured to meet published physical properties for a period of one year following the date of shipment, provided that the product has been applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. Under this warranty, Excellent Coatings International will provide, at no charge, product in containers to replace any product proved to be defective in applications recommended by us as suitable for this product. All claims concerning the product's defects must be made within twelve months of shipment and within thirty days of discovery. Absence of such claims in writing during this period will constitute a waiver of all claims with respect to such product. This warranty is IN LIEU OF any and all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, any implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY of fitness for a specific purpose.

TECHNICAL SERVICE:

Authorized local representatives are available to provide design assistance and on-site instruction for our products.  Excellent Coatings International provides assistance in design and development of special applications and partial inspections.  Part-time and full-time inspection and instruction are available on a fee basis upon arrangement.
