COMPOSITION:

Excel-Coat #200 is a single component acrylic texture material.

BASIC USE:

Excel-Coat #200 is specifically designed to provide a pigmented texture coat over the Excel-Coat membrane.

 LIMITATIONS:

• Not for areas intended for vehicular traffic.
• Do not apply in constantly submerged conditions such as reflecting ponds or tank linings.
• Do not apply over non-­structural lightweight concrete without prior written approval.

 GRADE:

The Excel-Coat #200 texture coat is an acrylic resin mixed with fine aggregate and fibers to provide an intermediate texture coat over the Excel-Coat membrane.

 PACKAGING:

The Excel-Coat #200 Finish Coat is available in 1 and 5 gallon containers (U.S. gallon measures).

 SHELF LIFE:

Twelve months from shipping date; stored below 80°F.  Do not allow product to freeze.

 COLORS:

Excel-Coat #200 texture coat is available in 16 standard colors. Custom color matching is available upon request at an additional charge. Minimum quantities and guaranteed overages may apply.

 JOB CONDITIONS:

Before any work is started, the applicator shall thoroughly examine all surfaces for any deficiencies. Should any deficiencies exist, the Architect, Owner or General Contractor shall be notified in writing and any corrections necessary shall be made.

 Cold or inclement weather will effect the cure time of all Excel-Coat products.  Do not install over wet substrate, in the rain or if the threat of rain exists within 24 hours.

INSTALLATION:

 PREPARATION:

1. To apply Excel-Coat #200 texture coat the Excel-Coat membrane (fiberglass and Excel-Coat #1)  shall be installed, cured, clean, and detailed so that surface is pinhole free and smooth. 
2. All decks shall be properly sloped to freely drain and eliminate the ponding of water.  All expansion joints shall be treated as specified in the drawings, and in strict accordance with Excellent Coatings International's written instructions.  Excellent Coatings International shall be consulted for specific design requirements.

 APPLICATION (w/ HOPPER):

1. With tape and paper, mask off walls, railings, sliding doors, etc.
2. Set the air pressure on the compressor between 8-15 pounds per square inch (the higher the pressure, the finer the texture).  Spray a little texture on a piece of cardboard or paper to check pattern of spray.  Adjust gun and air pressure until you achieve desired pattern.
3. Starting with the perimeter of the deck, begin to apply Excel-Coat #200 at a rate of 75 square feet per gallon.  Move the pattern pistol as evenly as possible to create a uniform spray and texture.  Avoid spraying thick and thin spots.
4. Allow material to dry approximately 6-8 hours.  Dry times may vary.

 APPLICATION (w/ ROLLER):

1. With a 4” brush, apply Excel-Coat #200 rollable grade around the perimeter of the deck and drains.  It is essential that the material covers flashing at the wall and doorjambs, but it is not necessary to take it over the fascia edge.
2. With a ½" nap roller, apply Excel-Coat #200 at a rate of 75 square feet per gallon.
3. Pre-moisten roller cover with water.  Spin out any excess water.  This will help prevent roller cover from drawing moisture out of coating and will keep coating from clumping on roller.
4. Pour small amounts of Excel-Coat #200 onto deck surface and roll out.
5. To remove clumps of coating, move roller in a circular motion over clump, using moderate pressure.
6. Allow material to dry approximately 6-8 hours.  Dry times may vary.

Hint:        For a more uniform texture when rolling, spread the Excel-Coat #200 evenly over the deck surface, then back roll in the same direction.

Note:       Because Excel-Coat #200 is thicker so it can be used with a hopper gun, it will be more difficult to achieve a uniform look when it is rolled.   You may add some Excel-Coat #300 to the texture to make it easier to roll.

Note:       Avoid application of Excel-Coat #200 texture coat when deck surface is hot and/or under direct intense sunlight.

CAUTION:

When rolling Excel-Coat #200 on hot days or hot surfaces, material will begin to cure quickly.  Apply the material then leave alone.  “Touch ups” should be completed after the material has dried.

STORAGE AND HANDLING:

Store Excel-Coat #200 in a cool, dry area and protect from freezing. It will be necessary to stir Excel-Coat #200 before using. Containers should be separated according to batch numbers to ensure color uniformity. When changing from one batch to another, blend one container from each batch together to ensure a smooth transition.  Partial containers can be resealed. Should a top skin develop on the remaining contents of a container, the physical properties and effectiveness of the contents will not be impaired. Clean mixing and application tools with water. Dispose of empty containers properly according to current Local, State and Federal regulations.

HEALTH AND HAZARD INFORMATION:

Use the product with adequate ventilation and personal protection. Users must read container label and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for specific health and safety precautions prior to use.

MAINTENANCE:

Cleaning can be accomplished by scrubbing with normal detergent soap and water. Heavy stains may require TSP solution and brushing with a stiff broom.

GUARANTEE / WARRANTY:

Excellent Coatings International warrants Excel-Coat #200 to be free of defects and manufactured to meet published physical properties for a period of one year following the date of shipment, provided that the product has been applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. Under this warranty, Excellent Coatings International will provide, at no charge, product in containers to replace any product proved to be defective in applications recommended by us as suitable for this product. All claims concerning the product's defects must be made within twelve months of shipment and within thirty days of discovery. Absence of such claims in writing during this period will constitute a waiver of all claims with respect to such product. This warranty is IN LIEU OF any and all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but

not limited to, any implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY of fitness for a specific purpose.

Authorized local representatives are available to provide design assistance and on-site instruction for our products.  Excellent Coatings International provides assistance in design and development of special applications and partial inspections.  Part-time and full-time inspection and instruction are available on a fee basis upon arrangement.  Technical data is available upon request.
