COMPOSITION:
Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer is a single-component, acrylic polymer color seal coat.
BASIC USE:
Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer is specifically designed to provide a hard tinted top coat for interior or exterior pedestrian traffic areas such as walking decks, balconies, patios, stairways and pool areas. Suitable substrates for the Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer are existing Excel-Coat waterproofing systems, Excel-Coat K/D systems as well as other waterproofing membranes and concrete walking surfaces where a durable seal coat is needed. Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer provides durable protection with ultraviolet light stability and allows easy maintenance of the surface.
LIMITATIONS:
· Not for areas intended for vehicular traffic.
· Do not apply in constantly submerged conditions such as reflecting ponds or tank linings.
· Do not apply over non-structural lightweight concrete without prior written approval.
GRADE:
The Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer is a durable tinted acrylic resin to be used as a top coat. This seal coat can be used with all Excel-Coat systems as a colored sealer.
PACKAGING:
The Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer is available in 1 and 5 gallon containers (U.S. gallon measures).
SHELF LIFE:
Twelve months from shipping date stored below 80° F. Do not allow product to freeze.
COLORS:
Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer is available in 16 standard colors. Custom color matching is available upon request at an additional charge. Minimum quantities and guaranteed overages may apply.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Before any work is started, the applicator shall thoroughly examine all surfaces for any deficiencies. Should any deficiencies exist, the Architect, Owner or General Contractor shall be notified in writing and any corrections necessary shall be made.
Cold or inclement weather will affect the cure time of all Excel-Coat products. Do not install over wet substrate, in the rain or if the threat of rain exists within 24 hours.
INSTALLATION:
Preparation:
1. To top coat existing systems, the finish must be thoroughly cleaned and primed. Power washing with a detergent such as Prosoco 2010 All-Purpose Cleaner or an organic citrus cleaner is recommended.
2. Eliminate any and all grease, grime or surface contaminants that may interfere with adhesion of the coating.
3. Surfaces to receive a seal coat shall be properly sloped to freely drain and eliminate the ponding of water. All expansion joints shall be treated as specified in the drawings and in strict accordance with Excellent Coatings, Inc.'s written instructions. Excellent Coatings, Inc. shall be consulted for specific design requirements.
Application(s):
For Existing Systems:
Prime surface with Excel-Coat Primer 120 in a thin coat at the rate of approximately 250 square feet per gallon. Allow primer to become tacky. Apply two thin coats of K/D Color Sealer by roller or airless sprayer at the rate of 250 square ft. per gallon per coat, for a net yield of 125 square ft. per gallon total coverage. Allow to dry approximately 8 hours. Allow to cure 24 hours before heavy foot traffic is permitted and an additional 72 hours before heavy objects are placed on the surface.
Note: When top coating with a color that is lighter than existing top coat color additional applications may be required.
For New Excel-Coat Systems: (i.e., K/D systems or Excel-Coat Waterproofing systems)
1. A primer coat is not necessary prior to application of the Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer.
2. Apply two thin coats of K/D Color Sealer by roller or airless sprayer at the rate of 250 square ft. per gallon per coat, for a net yield of 125 square ft. per gallon total coverage. Allow to dry approximately 8 hours. Allow to cure 24 hours before heavy foot traffic is permitted and an additional 72 hours before heavy objects are placed on the surface.
STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Store Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer in a cool, dry area and protect from freezing. It will be necessary to stir Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer before using. Partial containers can be resealed. Should a top skin develop on the remaining contents of a container, the physical properties and effectiveness of the contents will not be impaired. Clean mixing and application tools with water. Dispose of empty containers properly according to current Local, State and Federal regulations.

Use the product with adequate ventilation and personal protection. Users must read container label and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for specific health and safety precautions prior to use.

maintenance:
Cleaning can be accomplished by scrubbing with detergent soap and water. Heavy stains may require TSP solution and brushing with a stiff broom. Prosoco 2010 is also an effective cleaning material and may be used in conjunction with power washing. Follow product directions.
GUARANTEE/ WARRANTY:
Excellent Coatings, Inc. warrants Excel-Coat K/D Color Sealer to be free of defects and manufactured to meet published physical properties for a period of one year following the date of shipment, provided that the product has been applied according to the manufacturer's instructions. Under this warranty, Excellent Coatings, Inc. will provide, at no charge, product in containers to replace any product proved to be defective in applications recommended by us as suitable for this product. All claims concerning the product's defects must be made within twelve months of shipment and within thirty days of discovery. Absence of such claims in writing during this period will constitute a waiver of all claims with respect to such product. This warranty is IN LIEU OF any and all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, any implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY of fitness for a specific purpose.
TECHNICAL SERVICE:
Authorized local representatives are available to provide design assistance and on-site instruction for our products. Excellent Coatings, Inc. provides assistance in design and development of special applications and partial inspection. Part-time and full-time inspection and instruction are available on a fee basis upon arrangement. Technical Data is available upon request.
